Muscular Pain Relief for Cramp

  • If you want to stop muscle cramps before they even start, the best solution is to drink plenty of water, before, during and after exercise.
  • If you exercise for over an hour, drink a specialist sport’s drink.
  • If cramp does strike, stretching the muscle out, is the best instant muscular pain relief.
  • Gentle massage can help too, as it helps to stimulate removal of lactic acid. Lactic acid is the waste product formed when muscles exert themselves, and can accumulate in muscles and joints, causing pain and cramps.

Gentle massage helps get it all moving to be expelled from the body.

  • If you get cramps regularly, make sure that your salt intake around the time you exercise, is sufficient (the body sweats salt out too, so any re-hydration should include some salt).
  • Also check for deficiencies in:
    • zinc
    • magnesium
    • calcium
    • potassium
    • iron
    • Vitamins B, C and D
    • iodine
