Triggers and What to Avoid

natural remedy for eczema itching Find your own natural remedy for eczema...

Don't just try to ignore that itching...

Make it go away...for good! Learn about how to find your own eczema natural remedy ...that works!

I hate having eczema! It feels so awful to itch so much you just want to rip your skin off … or scratch until you bleed!

It’s not exactly attractive either – and really makes you want to cover up and hide!

I can assure you though – you needn’t suffer!

Natural remedies for eczema do work – and are much safer, and gentler on your skin, than conventional eczema cures.

I have had eczema since I was a little girl, but developed it in a major way at University. With my mother’s help, I identified foods and products which might be causing my eczema….

Unbelievably, within 2 weeks, my skin had calmed right down!

I still get eczema – I just treat it with some simple, natural eczema remedies, and take a look at what might be causing it this time …. It always goes away quite quickly now – and does not need to be a major factor in my life!

Symptoms

Typical symptoms of eczema are:

  • itchiness
  • red inflamed skin
  • weeping rash
  • scabs and sores

  • As the skin gets raw and inflamed, it is common for bacterial infections to set in, and make it worse.
  • Do check with your healthcare professional that it is eczema you are suffering from, and not a fungal skin infection, such as ringworm. They can look very similar.

Always remember to consult your healthcare provider before taking any decisions regarding your health.

Problems with a Conventional Eczema Cure

  • Eczema is commonly treated with corticosteroid cream.
  • This can be quite effective in the short term.
  • Used long term you should be very careful. The creams tend to thin the skin, and make it damage more easily.
  • We have a family friend who even had to go to hospital, because of the severe damage caused to her skin, by corticosteroid creams, prescribed for eczema!
  • Anti-histamines or oral corticosteroid tablets may also be taken.
  • These can cause some unpleasant side effects too:
    • drowsiness
    • dizziness
    • nausea and vomiting
    • indigestion
    • headache
    • insomnia
    • increased appetite and weight gain
    • dry mouth, nose and throat
    • long term immune problems
    • osteoporosis
    • muscle loss
    • cataracts
  • A natural remedy for eczema is a genuine alternative though…

Triggers for Eczema

  • To find an effective natural remedy for eczema, we should first take a look at the causes of eczema.
  • It is believed that eczema is most often triggered by allergies, intolerances and sensitivities.
  • Your eczema may be triggered by:
    • foods you eat
    • something that touches your skin
    • or possibly both!
  • I suffer from both kinds. But thankfully I am largely symptom free, by carefully avoiding my known triggers.
  • Occasionally I will have an eczema flare-up. Then I find a natural remedy for eczema is the most effective – and I don’t need to worry about any long term damage to my skin!
  • You will also find, I am sure, that as your body gets healthier, your eczema symptoms will naturally get less and less…!
  • Some common triggers for eczema are:
    • Foods you might be allergic to. Commonly:
      • dairy
      • eggs
      • citrus
      • tomatoes
      • nuts
    • Foods with colors, preservatives and flavorings - especially
      • MSG (Monosodium Glatamate)
      • E102 (Tartrazine)

    • natural remedy for eczema washing up
    • Washing up liquids
    • Washing powders and fabric softeners
    • Wool and products containing lanolin
    • Cosmetics and toiletries
    • Jewellery – especially non-precious metal and nickel
    • Dust
    • Mold
    • Pollen
    • Pet hair
    • Getting too warm
    • Some medications – especially the contraceptive pill

  • There is much benefit in finding out which triggers are the ones which affect you! Avoiding them will soon become second nature to you…

Lifestyle Changes as a Natural Remedy for Eczema

  • Have an allergy test to identify which foods you could be allergic to. Try cutting them out of your diet for a few weeks, to see if it has any effect.
  • Find out more about the allergy test I used. It is very comprehensive, as well as being excellent value for money ... I would recommend it to anyone!
  • Try to choose natural products where possible – especially for
    • Cosmetics
    • Toiletries: This is the range I use - totally natural, and specially designed for eczema sufferers. (The link opens in a new window - Click on 'Catalogue' in the left hand nav bar, then 'Beauty' and 'Therapeutic Skincare')
    • Washing up liquid:
      • I find Fairy the worst and Ecover the best.
    • Washing powders and detergents:
      • Avoid biological detergents
      • Instead go for non-biological powders and liquids
      • Look out for natural products such as Ecover
      • I use detergent-free washing balls – which do get my washing clean!
      • Or totally natural soap nuts
    • Try to avoid getting too hot - especially hot and sweaty!

    • natural remedy for eczema sunshine
    • Sunshine is good for eczema though – and can be a fantastic eczema cure!
    • But do take care not to over do it. Keep exposure to the sun short, or wear hypoallergenic sun-block

    • Do take care, as I have found that sun creams can really aggravate my skin. I do find, though, that I can use natural, mineral sun blocks, without a problem!
    • Eczema is a dry skin condition, so you need to keep the skin well hydrated.
    • But don’t have baths or showers that are too hot.
    • Only use mild or natural soaps, or bath and shower products.
    • If possible, choose products that have been specially made for people with eczema. Like these, which I use myself, and sell in my webshop. (The link opens in a new window - Click on 'Catalogue' in the left hand nav bar, then 'Beauty' and 'Therapeutic Skincare') An ideal natural remedy for eczema!

    • Avoid synthetic fragrances, alcohol or lanolin in products.
    • After your bath or shower, gently pat dry, rather than rubbing vigorously.
    • While your skin is still moist, use a natural body lotion, to keep the moisture in.
