- Or use externally on the skin, as the best natural remedy for eczema:
- Simmer 2 tablespoons of the dried root in a pint of water for 15 minutes
- Strain and cool
- Soak a flannel, or lint-free cloth, in the liquid and apply gently to the patch of eczema

- Do not take for longer than 6 weeks
- Do not take if pregnant
- Do not take if you have high blood pressure, diabetes or problems with your heart, liver, thyroid, or kidneys.

- Studies have found that some eczema sufferers require more Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.
- It is important that the ratio of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids is correct in the body.
- The correct ratio of Omega 6 to Omega 3 is 2:1.
- Every day I take 2000mg of Evening Primrose Oil capsules (Omega 6) and 1000mg of Fish Oil capsules (Omega 3).

Oats
- Oats are a very commonly used natural eczema cure.
- I am allergic to oats myself, so haven’t actually tried it – I can’t think that it would be that good for me!
- Here are a few different options you can try as an eczema natural remedy:
- Place 2 handfuls of oatmeal in approximately 2 and ˝ litres of water
- Heat and simmer for 10-15 minutes
- Strain the mixture
- Use the liquid as a skin wash
- You can also add the liquid to a bath
- Place 1-2 handfuls of oatmeal in a muslin cloth (or just a sock – clean socks only, please!)
- Tie the top tightly and fasten to the bath tap, so that the water flows through the bundle, while you are running the bath
- You could also place the tied bundle into the bath, while you are running the bath, or use the bundle as a ‘sponge’
- Oatmeal is found in lots of beauty products, as an added natural ingredient. It makes skin lovely and soft, as well as helping to clear up problems like eczema.
- Don’t be tempted to use whole oats, instead of commercially bought oatmeal. You might get a great natural remedy for eczema, but you will also get a horrible, sticky mess – basically porridge! So, save your porridge bath for charity fundraising!

Aromatherapy Essential Oils
- Essential oils can be a great natural remedy for eczema
- You should take care, though, that your eczema is not actually irritated by any of the oils
- If your eczema is ‘dry’ use calendula oil as your base
- If your eczema is ‘moist’ use a calendula wash as your base.
- Add a few drops of one, or a few, of the following essential oils:
- Camomile
- Yarrow
- Geranium
- Sandalwood
- Patchouli
- Fennel
- Melissa
- Hyssop
- Juniper
- Lavender
- As a general rule, use up to 12 drops of essential oils (total not each) for every 50ml of base/carrier oil
- You can also use these essential oils for massages or bathing
- I like to use a few drops of essential oil in a fragrance free body wash for a wonderfully scented, foaming bath, which does not irritate my skin.
- Personally I find one of the simplest and most effective natural eczema remedies of all is to just bathe the eczema with a little neat or diluted essential lavender oil. It very nearly always, just clears up in no time.
