rheumatoid arthritis pain relief

Suffering from aches and pains, stiffness and swelling in your joints can often mean suffering from arthritis.

There are more than 100 different types of arthritis. One of the most common is rheumatoid arthritis.

  • This is thought to affect around 1 – 3% of the population.
  • Rheumatoid arthritis can strike at any age, including children, but is most common between the ages of 30 and 40.
  • At age 65 around 20% of the female population will suffer from rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Women seem to be more susceptible than men.

Rheumatoid arthritis is slightly different from other forms of arthritis…

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is an ’auto-immune disorder’.
  • The immune system goes wrong, and it is the immune system itself that actually causes the inflammation and swelling in the joints.
  • It is important that you get a correct diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis from your doctor.
  • Most people with swollen, inflamed and painful joints don’t actually have rheumatoid arthritis.
  • If you do suffer from rheumatoid arthritis, there is no need to worry - and you do have a lot of options for effective rheumatoid arthritis pain relief.
  • You will find much information about appropriate natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis, on these pages.

Firstly, find out about what rheumatoid arthritis is all about… This will really help you to choose the most effective natural health remedies for your condition…

Always remember to consult your healthcare provider before taking any decisions regarding your health.

What is Rheumatoid Arthritis?

  • In a ‘normal’ joint, the 2 bones are kept apart from each other by:
    • a smooth layer of cartilage
    • a ‘capsule’ of synovial membrane and fluid
  • Inside a joint with rheumatoid arthritis the joint becomes swollen and inflamed:
    • the synovial membranes ‘spread’ and become inflamed
    • the inflammation then spreads to the cartilage and bone
    • this distorts and damages the surrounding tendons and muscles

Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis

Sadly, the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis affect much more than just the joints…

The main symptoms to look out for are:

  • The most commonly affected joints are the:
    • wrists
    • knuckles
    • toes
    • ankles
    • elbows
    • knees
    • neck
  • The joints swell, and become stiff and inflamed. The swelling is:
    • red and inflamed
    • hot to touch
    • ’spongy’
  • Fingers become ‘spindle-like’.
  • Muscles start to spasm and create further deformity, such as a ‘clawing’ effect in the hand and foot.
  • ’Nodules’ start to form under the skin.
  • Tendons become inflamed.
  • Raynaud’s Syndrome can occur – the fingers become cold.

Other symptoms affecting more than the joints:

  • anaemia
  • fever
  • loss of appetite and weight
  • tiredness and lethargy
  • eye inflammation
  • bursitis
  • inflammation of heart and blood vessels
  • inflammation of lungs
  • inflammation of the brain
  • Sjogrens Syndrome

Causes of Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disorder - a problem with the immune system, rather than with the joints themselves. This then causes the pain and swelling in the joints, and other symptoms.
  • Underlying factors can be:
    • genetic, or hereditary likelihood
    • viral infection
    • excess bacteria in the digestive system
    • stress (emotional or physical)
    • diet
  • It is a really good idea to find the factors personal to you that may form the underlying causes of your rheumatoid arthritis…
  • You can do this by having a test to discover:
    • what factors are stressing your body
    • if you have food allergies, sensitivities or intolerances
    • if you are deficient in any vitamin or mineral
  • All this can help put your body in a healing state that can start to get rid of those troubling symptoms.
  • The test I used to kick start my recovery gives a comprehensive result - personal to you – of all these factors. I found it extremely helpful in my recovery from M.E. – and would recommend it to anyone (whatever the health condition) …

Conventional Treatments

  • You should ask your doctor for a test to correctly diagnose if you do have rheumatoid arthritis.
  • Blood tests can show whether you have the ‘rheumatoid factor’ present (the substance in the blood, which can prove to doctors that this is an immune disorder)
  • Conventional treatment can, actually, be quite effective, including surgery, in the later stages.
  • Conventional treatments usually concentrate on relieving pain and reducing inflammation, rather than looking at the underlying causes, like natural remedies for rheumatoid arthritis do.
  • Conventional remedies can have some quite nasty side effects though, and can even cause further damage to the joints.

Natural Remedies for Rheumatoid Arthritis

  • The best options for rheumatoid arthritis pain relief include:
  • In the later stages, a little gentle exercise may be appropriate, but in the severe stages, when there is much inflammation, do be very careful about overdoing any exercise or movement at all.

  • Healing magnets can be a very effective rheumatoid arthritis pain relief treatment.
  • They work by increasing blood circulation to the affected joint, and improve healing to muscles, membranes, bones and cartilage.
  • Magnetic therapy bracelets can be very effective for rheumatoid arthritis … and have plenty of testimonials to prove it!
  • Although I don’t have rheumatoid arthritis, I do find my own magnetic healing bracelet has considerably reduced the pain I feel in my joints and muscles from M.E. (and they work for lots of other illnesses and conditions too)
  • My father and uncle both wear theirs to treat arthritis and are both very happy with the results.
